March is traditionally considered the month of women, and during this time we especially aim to introduce successful, accomplished, and strong women and share their stories.

Teona Giorgadze is the Commercial Director of Mziuri Resort, a company currently developing two large-scale real estate projects in the Adjara region.

Before joining Mziuri Resort, her life included diverse experiences — education, family life, years spent living in the United Kingdom, and the founding of one of the most successful travel companies. Since 2021, she has been serving as the Commercial Director of Mziuri Resort.

Alongside her professional achievements, she is also a wife and mother of three, part of a strong and loving family that has lasted for 17 years.

Teona is a philologist by profession. Her choice of career was largely influenced by her love of foreign languages, but after graduating from university and briefly working as a teacher at a private school, she realized that teaching was not the path she truly wanted to pursue.

Family and children have always held special importance in her life. Even during our meeting, between numerous business calls, there were moments when Teona was simply a mother — always available for her children.

Traveling has always been her greatest passion, which she eventually turned into a successful business. In 2014, together with her sister, she founded the travel company Blue Bird Travel, which quickly became successful and continues to maintain a strong position in the market today.

Several years of living in the UK with her family gave her new perspectives and a different approach to work and business.

The journey to Mziuri Resort — until today

The story of Mziuri Resort began in 2019. The first project and successful start was Mziuri Gardens. My husband, together with British investors, made an investment of approximately 80 million GEL in Adjara. At the initial stage, I was not involved in the company’s management, but since 2021 I have joined the Mziuri Resort team as Commercial Director.

“I often say that I discovered myself in this company. This is exactly the place and field where I feel comfortable. At the initial stage, starting work in the real estate sector was quite a big challenge for me, as I did not have relevant experience. However, there is no difficulty that I cannot overcome. I constantly strive for new things and continue learning; I am always in search of self-development. Of course, I also like challenges. I think they make me stronger and give me motivation and strength.

I believe that after joining Mziuri Resort, I made a significant contribution to the company’s development in terms of structuring processes, delegating work, and increasing brand awareness, which naturally resulted in sales growth.

Since the spring of 2022, an ‘explosion’ has begun in the company, and it continues to this day. I believe this is largely the result of the main value our company stands on — our team. People who create Mziuri Resort with great professionalism and love.”

“At this stage, Mziuri Resort is developing two large residential and investment projects in Adjara, which are extremely important both for us and for the region.

The first is Mziuri Gardens, a premium-class residential and investment project in Makhinjauri, located just a few meters from the sea and 6 kilometers from Batumi. About 90% of the construction process has already been completed.

The second and new project is Mziuri Wellness, a residential and wellness complex being developed on a 16,000 sq.m. area among mature pine trees and endemic vegetation in Makhinjauri, on the territory of a former balneological resort. Historically, the well-known sanatorium “Mziuri” existed here, which welcomed more than 10,000 visitors annually from post-Soviet countries as well as many European countries.

Mziuri Wellness will unite residential apartments, the 5-star hotel brand Crowne Plaza, and an international-standard balneological and wellness center, which will be accessible both to residents of our complex and to any visitor.

Our goal is to once again make Adjara — and Makhinjauri in particular — an attractive destination throughout all four seasons, and an important part of this plan is welcoming visitors from different countries interested in medical tourism and balneological resorts. The total investment value of the project amounts to 50 million GEL.

Construction has already begun and will be completed by the end of 2026.”

“I think the main value of Mziuri Resort is that we build in the same way we would build our own home — a place where we would live with our family and children.

We look at every detail from the perspective of a future resident. We think about what will provide greater comfort, how people can feel calm and safe. We are not simply building residential buildings; we are creating a new living experience. As I mentioned, our projects are also important for regional development. Since the construction of Mziuri Gardens began, many new projects have appeared around it. Land and real estate prices have increased, economic activity has grown, and as a result, Makhinjauri has become a commercially attractive location.”

“I started my family at the age of 21, after graduating from university, and we have been together for 17 years. Our family is strengthened by our three children — Luka, 13, Tekla, 11, and Liza, 7.

I think we were lucky, but we also worked very hard to spend these 17 years in stability and love. Behind this, along with great love, stands mutual understanding, willingness, friendship, and respect for one another. That is why we are good partners both in business and in family life. What unites us most is friendship, shared work, and mutual interest in one another, which has not faded over the years.”

“It is quite difficult. However, I think I still manage it. I have often felt that I spend less time with my children, even though I am always there when they need me. But then I realize that they also need a fulfilled and happy mother. Of course, my family and my husband support me greatly in this. With their support, I manage to be successful at work without neglecting my family. Still, balance is necessary in everything. The most important thing is to set priorities correctly.”

“My day starts at 7 a.m. with a traditional cup of coffee. Then I wake up the children and we prepare for school. After the children leave for school, I dedicate some time to myself — I exercise, swim, get ready, and then go to work.

I usually spend evenings with my family.

We love traveling very much and try to make time for it. These days are especially important for children. They are happiest when the whole family is together.”

“I think being a leader is a quality that you either have or you don’t, regardless of whether you are a woman or a man. It is very important for me to always be active, fulfilled, and productive. When I know that someone needs me, when I can help someone, when I am doing something meaningful and useful — that is when I feel happiest and full of energy.

As for the challenges that come with leadership, I would say it is definitely not easy to be a mother and at the same time lead a company. I always demand the maximum from myself and constantly tell myself — you can do it in the best possible way. I am truly fortunate to have my family standing firmly by my side.”

“At this stage, I am fully focused on development projects, and my future plans are connected to them. The company is in an active phase of development, and we are already working on several new projects.

Mziuri Resort has established itself with dignity in the Georgian development market, and we intend to continue in the same direction in the future.”
